Karolina Grzelewska’s 25 years of experience, years of observation, and mission to create something that would contribute to proper skincare and customer satisfaction were waiting for the right moment.

The outbreak of the pandemic and the introduction of a business lull allowed for a return to the “project from the drawer.” Conclusions could be drawn calmly and carefully and a plan of action could be developed to develop the most appropriate technology. Technology that was complicated by language and access to laboratories and specialists.

During the pandemic, Karolina Grzelewska worked for many months to develop a list of properties and botanical ingredients to be included in skincare products.

For many years, products from many companies were tested, and thousands of customers shared their knowledge, effects, and results regarding the results of their chosen skincare products. After many years, a multitude of conclusions had accumulated.

The pandemic allowed for a team of engineers and professors from the laboratory (doctors, scientists, technologists, and trichologists) to communicate. Based on the information submitted, test samples were created, and formulas and studies were developed in parallel. A technological procedure was developed, which received approval and permission to develop the composition of the blend of organic compounds prior to the production process.

In April 2021, an official sales and distribution point for Hair-Life Professional products was established, based on the 2006 guiding principle of “professional hair life.”

The brand was founded in Poland in 2006, but it’s the experience, not the circumstances, that should be taken into account. Hairstylist Karolina Grzelewska began her training and practice in 1996.

From the very beginning, she gained knowledge and experience under the guidance of masters and pioneers at the French brand Hair-Coif. She worked in a chain of salons that, under the supervision of the best educators (L’Oréal Professionnel Academy and the Kerastase Institute), received a foundation and appropriate professional mentoring. From the very beginning, Karolina Grzelewska knew that passion wasn’t everything, and that special dedication was a new element of her career path, one that led to new discoveries, to nurturing her surroundings and image.

It was hard work, filled with sacrifices, but intellectually and professionally fulfilling, which was shaping into a path to success.

All the ingredients for our cosmetics and oils are grown on an organic farm in Podlasie.

We carefully considered the use of glass bottles with short expiration dates to ensure maximum effectiveness.

The farm where the ingredients come from is a magical place, filled with the scent of nature, energy, and a love for herbal fields, forests, and gardens.

The farm has its own oil press.

What guided you in choosing the line and ingredients?

Having many years of experience in the profession and working with problematic skin, I wanted to offer my clients the freshest and healthiest product possible.

The beginnings weren’t easy; I had to define the product and create formulas, which I improved and modified over the years.

Fortunately, I’m not alone!

Collaborating with a herbal clinic and a biochemical institute helped me create an innovative cosmetic concept!

When and why did you decide to create your own cosmetics?

The Sylvvage line of 100% natural cosmetics began in 2016, when, at the urging of a friend, I began working with a farm in the Podlasie region where I’m from, where my products are produced.

I’ve been practicing skincare for many years and know how important a product’s chemical composition is.

I wanted to offer not only therapeutic cosmetics, but ones so healthy you could eat them.

There are so many unhealthy products around us, loaded with preservatives and chemicals that not only change the appearance of the skin but also penetrate deep into the epidermis.

Proper skin care starts at home. From the very first visit to my salon, I teach my clients the importance of consistency and a holistic approach to our bodies and health.

Beata Werys, creator of the WERYS COSMETICS brand, is a beauty  technician and graduate of the Gdynia School of Cosmetics. She completed Level 5 as a beauty therapist in the UK.

An international cosmetology trainer, wellness specialist, expert in combined therapies and her own proprietary therapies. She is the author of books and articles related to the beauty industry. She owns a beauty salon in Newport, Wales, and co-owner of the B&E Beauty Trainings beauty school in the UK and Beauty Industry Magazine. She is also the organizer of the European Cosmetology Symposium.

When and why did you decide to create your own cosmetics?

This is a question I’ve been frequently asked lately by beauty professionals and clients alike. Most of my clients have struggled with various skin issues for many years, such as acne, dry skin, sensitive skin, sagging skin, and discoloration. These challenges motivated me to create my own cosmetics brand that would meet both my and my clients’ expectations. The idea to start a brand first came to me in 2018, but I always lacked the time to fully pursue it. Only in 2020, when the entire world was gripped by the COVID-19 pandemic, was the perfect time to thoroughly analyse this project and get started. I knew that to create high-quality cosmetics, I needed a trusted laboratory. I decided to find such a laboratory in the UK to have full control over the production process and provide my clients with products that meet the highest quality standards.

A key factor that convinced me to take on this challenge was the ability to tailor cosmetic formulas to the individual needs of my clients. I wanted to create products that would be effective, yet gentle on the skin and free from harmful substances.

I also wanted my cosmetics brand to be eco-friendly and socially responsible. I wanted to introduce a conscious approach to cosmetics production, minimizing negative impact on the environment and supporting local communities. Consequently, starting my own cosmetics brand was a natural step toward fulfilling my passions and values. I wanted to create products that I believed in and that could positively impact the lives of others, while caring for the planet we all share.

What guided you in selecting the line and ingredients?

When selecting cosmetic lines and ingredients, I was guided by several key principles and values ​​that were extremely important to me. My approach to product development was focused on providing maximum benefits for clients’ skin, while considering various aspects, such as product effectiveness and application in both professional salons and everyday use.

Product Efficacy: My main priority was ensuring that the products were effective and delivered visible results. I knew that clients expected cosmetic products to work, so I carefully selected active ingredients and tested various formulas to achieve maximum effectiveness.

Professional Line: For the professional line, I focused on highly concentrated active ingredients that were compatible with various devices used in professional beauty treatments. This allows cosmetologists to achieve the best results with their clients. These ingredients were carefully selected to ensure not only effectiveness but also safety for professional use.

I decided to create my own cosmetics after more than four years of working on this project. The COVID-19 pandemic played a key role in my decision, accelerating the process of realizing this dream. However, the reasons behind this decision are much deeper and stem from my personal beliefs and values.

As someone who has worked in the beauty industry for many years, I have always been very demanding about the products I use on my skin. It was important to me that the cosmetics I use were compatible with my skin and tailored to my individual needs. However, it was difficult to find products on the market that met my high standards.

While developing my own cosmetics, I focused on several key issues. First, I wanted my products to be highly effective and deliver visible results. Therefore, I carefully selected active ingredients and tested various formulas to achieve the best results.

Second, I have always been opposed to animal testing, which is why my products were and are completely cruelty-free. It is a moral imperative for me not to harm animals in the cosmetics production process.

Thirdly, I wanted my cosmetics to be vegan-friendly. I wanted everyone to be able to use my products, regardless of their lifestyle or dietary beliefs.

Finally, eliminating harmful ingredients like SLS and parabens was extremely important to me. I wanted to create products that were not only effective but also safe for my customers’ skin and health.
